Abstract

Professional involvement of teachers depends on commitment, motivation, devotion, and interest, in their job and the day to day teaching and learning process.  The teachers who involve in the job, in a more intimate way would also be a people who are more satisfied with life.  The teachers who possess high professional involvement demonstrate ways of reducing anxiety and eradicating problems within the school environment. This study attempts to measure the level of professional involvement of high school teachers. The sample consists of 240 high school teachers. The Professional involvement inventory prepared and validated by Prof. Doreen Gnanam (2005).  Survey method was employed to describe and interpret what exists at present. The findings reveal that high school teachers differ in their professional involvement based on marital status and age; did not differ based on their gender, type of family, locale and medium of instruction.
